MORRISON, Christopher G.

-

Of Timberlea, May 12, 1973 May 2, 2020. Chris Morrison hit the trails for a long run for the last time on May 2nd. Born on Mother’s Day in Sydney, to Connie and Mary (Campbell) Morrison, he grew up with two brothers he loved dearly, Peter (Michelle) and Paul (Muriel), along a neighborhood full of friends who were like brothers to him. Chris graduated from St. F.X. University in 1995. While he was at X, he met his best friend and wife, Karol Ann. He was an incredibly proud father. Every soccer game, lacrosse game, photography exhibition, school concert, dance and parent teacher meeting, he was there as a cheerleader, coach, and fierce defender of his children. He was an inspiration for many to take care of themselves by being an encouraging voice and example by teaching 6 a.m. boot camps, running seven marathons, and exploring the roads and trails of Nova Scotia. He spent many Sunday and Thursday evenings playing hockey and living out his NHL dream. Known affectionately as the Chip Guy, or the Candy Man, he was a well-respected member of the grocery industry who made friends with his competitors. Chris is survived by his wife, Karol Ann (Macneil) Morrison; children, Kellyn and Grant; father, Connie Morrison; brothers, Peter (Michelle) and Paul (Muriel). He is also survived by sister-in-law, Kelly (David) Zinck; mother and father-in-law, Mike and Katherine Ann Macneil; and his nephews, Connor Morrison and Matthew and Michael Zinck. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary (Campbell) Morrison. Chris will always be remembered for his bright smile, renowned wit, incredible work ethic, kind and gentle nature and his exceptional storytelling capabilities. We would like to thank the Coronary Care Unit staff at QEII for providing kind and dignified care of him as well as the Legacy of Life Program, for helping him live on as an organ donor. A special thank you to his nurses, Alisha, Karolina, Kelly and Leah, as well as Dr. Ahmed Bakhtair. A celebration of Chris’s amazing life will be held at a later date. To remember Chris, take an early morning walk on a trail with someone you love, tell a joke or share a smile. The Chris Morrison Memorial Fund has been established to support student leaders with a joy for life from Sydney Academy who will be attending St. FX University.
