WALTERS, Mildred Evelyn

-

Of Dartmouth. It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother, mother-inlaw, grandmother, sister and aunt on Sunday, May 10, 2020, in Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home. Born April 6, 1933, in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late Florence and William Sarty. Mildred worked a successful and fulfilling career with the Nova Scotian Provincial Government in several departments, eventually retiring form the Sheriffs Department. Mom loved spending time with her family, relatives and friends, eager for visits and always game for a road trip (especially if someone else would drive). She enjoyed shopping, camping with the trailer, working on a good puzzle and her vacation trips to Newfoundland. She is survived by her children, Shirley Innes, Halifax; Jim (Kim), Dartmouth; Cathy Oickle (Mitchell), Hatchet Lake; Rick (Irene), Spryfield; her sister, Beulah Davis, East Uniacke; grandchildren, Rodney, Sylvia, Scott, Jessica, Courtney, Kyle, Britney, Zachary; five greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, Millie was predeceased by her husband, Eric; and sonin-law, Barry Innes. The family wishes to thank Oakwood Terrace staff and volunteers, especially Unit A, for their kindness, care and support! A special thanks to Mom’s roommate, Lillian for being her friend and watching over her. A private family service will be streamed from J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. at 12:50 p.m., on Friday, May 15th. Interment to follow service in Pine Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to one of Mom’s supported charities, the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
