HUNTER (Stevens) Wilma "Jean/jeannie"

-

Passed away at home. wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and all-around incredible woman passed away in her home at the age of 80 on May 10, 2020, 21 years and three days after her husband Thomas Everett Hunter Jr. passed. She is survived by her brother, Frank (Dickie); and sister, Cattie; children, Julie, Janet, and Michael; grandchildren, Christopher, Justin, Mitchael, Maizie, and Oliver; special adopted grandkids, Christopher (Megan/alison) and Alex; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Isabel; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Tommy; and daughter, Rebecca (Becky); infant grandson, Johnathon; parents, Wilena (Maccallum) and Ben Stevens; brothers and sisters, Lorne, Willy, Bubby, Ning, Teddy, Maizie, Margie, Flossie, and Betty-ann. She was born September 15, 1939 in Georgetown, P.E.I., and grew up in a small town with many brothers and sisters around to keep life exciting. She met and fell in love at first sight when introduced to her then brother-in-law, Tommy, and they were married in 1959. They began their lives together as a military family. They moved around from base to base in their early life together until eventually settling down and raised her family in Hammonds Plains. Although her heart was always at home in Prince Edward Island, she dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and children. Once her husband passed away, she moved to Lower Sackville and lived out the remaining years of her life there with her children and grandchildren around. She was a breast cancer survivor, and taught her family by example, on many occasions, how to survive the many hardships we would encounter over the years. She was an avid bingo player up until the past few years when her health made it too hard to do so. She will be missed dearly by her family and will be remembered always. Her memory will be honoured by the filling of shoeboxes (her version of the Christmas sock) for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at Christmas-signed lovingly, "Love you all to pieces, Gram(my)". Due to the current situation with COVID-19 there will not be a service held at this time. The family are going to be respecting her wishes to be cremated. She will be returned to her beloved Georgetown, P.E.I., and a celebration of life will occur at a time when it is safe for everyone to gather to pay their respects. Donations will be accepted to the charity of your choosing. Online condolences may be made at: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel
