-

The family of Mary Ellen are saddened to announce her peaceful passing surrounded with the people she loved most on April 23, 2020 at home at the age of 68. Mary Ellen was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. in 1952 to Russell and Molly (Robarts) Logan, settling eventually in Whites Lake. As a young girl "Sister", as her family called her, loved to swim at their beach, enjoyed family camping trips every summer to Prince Edward Island, and getting into trouble with her best friend and sister Joanna. In 1976 she became the proud mother to her only child, Ryan. As a single mother she proudly faced and overcame many challenges, believing that "When one door closes another always opens". Mary Ellen completed her high school diploma, and then a college degree and shortly after was employed with the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia where she worked until retirement in 2010. Later in life she met Albert, the love of her life, and moved into her childhood home. Along with her passion for geneology she was a lifelong artist who enjoyed painting scenes of the Prospect community she lived in and the flowers from her garden, which she avidly tended to every season. She also enjoyed teaching and painting along with her nieces and nephews whom affectionately named her "Rellen". She loved gatherings at Joanna’s where many laughs were had and many memories made, and loved Ryan and Deidre’s visits and dinners together. Mary Ellen was a wonderful lady who will always be remembered for her kindness, creativity, her witty sense of humour, her sign language for her brother-in-law, her passion for life and for truly being a charismatic wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by husband, Albert Sawler; her son Ryan (Deidre Young); siblings, Joanna (Joseph) Slaunwhite, Wanda (Kevin) Higginbotham, David (Denise) Logan, Carol (Tom) Bond, Terry Logan, Russell (Buddy) Logan; father-in-law, Vic Macavoy and Kimberly Langley; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
