VINCENT, Ralph William

-

Died May 14, 2020, at the age of 91, of Covid-19 in Northwood Manor in Halifax. He was born December 6, 1928, the fourth child of Florence (Yeadon) and Amos Vincent on Beech Street, Halifax. Ralph spent his career in the plumbing trade, starting his own business and ending up as a general manager in the HVAC construction industry. Upon retirement, Ralph took many long walks in Halifax and drives along the South Shore. As a teenager, he worked weekends at his brother-in-law’s store at the Head of St. Margarets Bay and over the years, continued to spend happy times there with his family. Dad was happiest in the woods at the Mersey, hunting and fishing at the camp he and family members built. His daughters fondly recall many hours spent fishing in the Bay with their Dad and the numerous trips around Nova Scotia he took them on, sometimes making it a long weekend. When he lost his wife Nora, in 1983, he developed a special relationship with his infant grandson, Chris, that continued the rest of his life. Ralph was predeceased by his wife, Nora (Vyse) Vincent; siblings, Marjorie, Doris, Aileen and Clyde; and grandson, Brian Peacocke. He is survived by his daughters, Janet (Hector) Pope, Somers, Conn.; Barbara (Philip) Spencer, Fall River; and Cathy Peacocke, Red Deer, Alta.; grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Pope (Dave Hansen), New Hampshire; Christopher (Maya) Spencer, Ontario; Nora (Gavin) Steedman, Ontario; Laura Peacocke, Alberta; and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our deep appreciation to his long-term caregiver, Heather Cooper. To leave an online condolence please visit: www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
