Of Aberdeen, Inverness Co., passed peacefully away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck. Born September 9, 1947 in Inverness, he was a son of the late Norman and Joanna (Macleod) Matheson. Ross was a loving husband, father and grandfathe­r - a friend to all who knew him. Known for his wit, storytelli­ng and kindness to all. Ross was a people person and had a remarkable memory. He was a member of the Sircom Lodge No. 66, Whycocomag­h and Causeway Shriner Club. He is survived by his wife, Wilma ( Pearo); son, Stephen, and grandchild Lily Margaret; Stephen’s mom, Janet (Macaulay) Matheson; daughter, Angela (Doug) and grandchild, Bodhi; Wilma’s children, Stacey (Melissa) and grandchild­ren, Nathaniel, Mason and Zackery; Kim (Eugene) and grandchild, Darriene; sister, Marilyn Maccuspic; niece, Norma and grandnephe­w, Dudley; sisters- in- law, Diane Rouse, Margie Ellis, Shirley (Frank) Chandler, Melody (Kenny) Ferguson, Linda Pearo; brothers-in-law, Sheldon Pearo (Colleen), John Robert (Sylvia) Pearo, Barry Campbell and Donald N. Macdonald; extended family, Bruce and Dorothy MacLellan and their children, Amy, Denise, Kelly and Robin, Gordie Ellis and family. Besides his parents Ross was predecease­d by his son, Daniel Scott (1980); sisters- in- law, Elaine Campbell, Patsy Macdonald, Sharon Pearo; brothers-in-law, Timmie Pearo, Gary Ellis and Gordon Rouse. Thanks to Dr. Roland Genge, Dr. Ritter and Cathy Macmillian Hospice Nurse, Alderwood staff and Victoria County Memorial Hospital for Ross’s excellent care. In keeping with COVID-19 restrictio­ns there will be no visitation. All attendees will be asked to provide their names and telephone numbers upon arrival at the church for the funeral service. Seating is limited to a maximum of 50 people. Social distancing protocols are to be followed and masks are mandatory. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 5th from Little Narrows Presbyteri­an Church with Margie Maclntyre, LLWL officiatin­g. Burial to follow in Little Narrows Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Ross may bemade to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomag­h.
