PECKFORD, Mildred Blanche
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mildred Peckford, in Russell Meadows Retirement Community, Russell, Ont., on December 31, 2020. Mom was born September 22, 1927, in Botwood, N.L., to John and Jessie Foster. Leaving to mourn with treasured memories are her daughters, Judy (Gary Dean), St. John’s, N.L.; Sheila (Ash Babber), Russell, Ont.; and Carolyn ( David Mcgrath), Pugwash. Mom will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Carla, Krysta, Keara, and Stefan; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Aidan, Colin, Taya, Foster, and Ginger. Always remembered by nieces, Debbie Gabriel and Beverly Peckford as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends. Mom, the youngest of four girls, was predeceased by her sisters, Ella, Maud, and Gladys. Mom was happiest when surrounded by her family and often travelled to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Toronto to spend special occasions with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid baker and loved sharing her favourite sweets at gatherings with family and friends. Mom loved to knit - hats for preemies, scarves for the homeless as well as countless mittens and socks for her family. She was a Hospital Ward Volunteer at the Civic Hospital, and at Christmas she donated to the Shepherds of Good Hope Christmas Dinner program and the Russell Food Bank. She donated financially to many associations who helped the less fortunate, instilling in her family the importance of helping others. We would like to thank the Russell Meadows Retirement Community staff, the Carefor staff; and Dr. Jerry Heymans, all of whom cared for Mom with such compassion and kindness during her time of greatest need. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kelly Funeral Home Carling Chapel, 2313 Carling Ave., Ottawa, ON K2B 7G3 613-828-2313. Online condolences may be made at: www.kellyfh.ca In honour of our mom, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
