Age 90 of Auburn formerly of Aylesford, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at home. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late Edward and Ethel (Hiltz) Smeltzer. Ted was a member of Aylesford Baptist Church. He and his loving late wife of 64 years, Mary (Seaboyer) were foster parents and fostered 26 children over the years. Ted is survived by sons, Wayne (Tracey) and Dale (Joan); daughters, Carol (Michele), Pam Butler, Cheryl Roach and April Dewolfe; cherished grandchild­ren, Clancy, Helena, Edward, Jennifer, Colleen, Samantha, Abigael, Tanya, Laura Lee, Raelene, Heather, Anthony, Alexis, Bradley, Sarah, Simon, Ava, Jayda, Logan, David; many greatgrand­children; and brother, Ervin, Upper Vaughan. Besides his parents and wife, Ted was also predecease­d by brothers, Wiley and Morley; and sister, Mabel Prout. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Aylesford Baptist Church, 2543 Hwy. 1, Aylesford. Pastor Patrick Gilbert officiatin­g. Face masks and social distancing protocols are required. For those unable to attend in person, a live webcast of the service will be available for viewing on the funeral home website at 1:55 p.m. AST by selecting the "Live Stream" option at the top of the home page. Burial will be in Aylesford Union Cemetery, Aylesford. Donations in memory may bemade to Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
