CHISHOLM, Sister Isabel (Sister Elizabeth Claire)

It is with deep regret that we, the Sisters of the Congregati­on of Notre Dame, announce the passing of Sister Isabel Chisholm on February 25, 2021 at CND Health Care Centre in Sydney. Sister Isabel was born in Antigonish, on February 22, 1925. She was a daughter of the late John and Sadie (Maceachern) Chisholm. She entered the Congregati­on of Notre Dame in 1955 and was professed in 1957. Prior to entering the CND she worked in hospitals in Montreal and Halifax as a dietitian. She began her teaching career in home economics in numerous communitie­s including Mount St. Bernard, Antigonish High School, Marianopol­is, Montreal and Holy Angels High School, Sydney. Sister Isabel accepted various responsibi­lities as a CND, including local community leader, bursar, presence in houses of formation and various other ministries. In 2011 she moved to Parkland Cape Breton, Sydney, where she resided until her health declined in 2020 and was welcomed at CND Health Care Centre, Sydney. She is survived by brothers, Leo (Kay) and Andrew (Pam); sisters, Ann, Mary, CSM, Mora (Bruce) Lepage; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by brothers, John (Blanche), Laughlin and Joseph; sisters, Ruth, Grail Movement, Jean, CSM, Frances (Francis) Mccarthy and Elizabeth who died at the age of two. Sister Isabel was a woman of service and deep prayer who possessed a loving and compassion­ate spirit. Visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1st in T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. also on Monday, March 1st in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Father Bill Burke will officiate.
