Age 82, of Bedford and formerly of Truro, passed away February 25, 2021. Born on October 14, 1938 in Truro, she was the daughter of the late John Earl and Evelyn Mae (Staples) Mackay. She was a devoted mother to sons, John (Shelley) Barrett, Singapore; Kevin (David Evans) Barrett, Dartmouth; and daughter, Jennifer (Raymond) Bourque, Bedford; grandmothe­r to Sarah (Brian) Barrett-baldock, Edmonton, John Barrett, Kelowna, Madyn and Jaclyn Bourque, Bedford; great-grandmothe­r to Charlotte, Olivia, Isaac and John; and cousin to Barbara Stewart, Waverley, and Ronald V. Mackay, Truro. She began her working career with Brookfield Creamery and later in life retired from Vantage Motors. She was a proud member of the Truro Gyro Club where she made several lifelong friends, especially Theresa Burke and Bill Lake, Truro, and her fellow Gyrettes. She was predecease­d by her husband, John Rupert Barrett; partner, Addison Neal; brother, Wilfred Mackay; and sisters, Annie Mackay and Kathleen Mackay. She will be remembered for her love of entertaini­ng, dancing, volunteeri­ng and spending time with her children, treasured friends and family. No funeral or visitation­s will be held as per her request and a private burial will take place in the family plot in Watson Cemetery.
