Foran leads Flames to first hoop win

Jenna Foran scored 20 points as the Sir John A. Macdonald Flames picked up their first win of the metro high school girls' basketball season on Thursday with a 62-55 win over the Millwood Knights.

Emma Empringham led the Knights with 17 points.

Dartmouth 101, Prince Andrew 42: Sami Russell drained 28 points as the Spartans improved to 5-0. Paris Melanson added 13, Keena

Davies 12 and Denezz Beals 11 for the winners. Lauryn Mcleod had 12 for the Panthers.

Citadel 66, Halifax West 44: Taya Dixon netted 10 points in the Phoenix victory while Maddi Macdonald led the Warriors with eight points.

C.P. Allen 76, Auburn Drive 44: Hannah Smith netted 22 points while Maddie Cook added 10 and Myah Lawrence nine for the Cheetahs. Zai Smith, Brittany Macdonald and Candace Smith each contribute­d seven points for the Eagles.

In Division 2 action: Cole Harbour 68, Eastern Shore 21: London Marinoff scored 23, Julianne Sparks 21 and Taylor Scott 12 for the Cavaliers while Lauren Reid led the Schooners with five.

In junior varsity action: Sir John A. Macdonald: 61, C.P. Allen 49: Grace Cansdale led a balanced attack for the Flames with 13 points while Aidyn White had 12 and Laura Hickman and Hannah Palmeter 10 each. Sarah Walters

scored 10 and Allie Chisholm and Lauren Donnelly nine each for the Cheetahs.

HOCKEY

Nicholas Morin, Mathias Brooks and Jacob Gagnon each scored twice as the Sommet/mosaique Cougars downed the Millwood Knights in boys' playoff action on Thursday night.

Calem Bennett and Maxime Boudreau also scored for the Cougars while Dayton Randall replied for the Knights.
