MOFFAT, Muriel Duretta

-

Passed away on February 24, 2021 in Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax, at the age of 97. Muriel was born in Upper Tantallon, on September 1, 1923 to Dora and Robert Hurshman, and was the youngest of five children. She met her husband, Jack Arthur Moffat, when he was stationed in Halifax during the war and they married on July 3, 1944. She is survived by daughter, Dale Moffat and son-in-law, Charles Evans, Bedford; granddaughter, Kimberley Hill and husband, Massimo Zicarreli, and great-granddaughter, Hannah Hill-macdonald, Aurora, Ont.; five nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Jack Arthur Moffat; brothers, Douglas Hurshman and Colin Hurshman; sisters, Lola Kidwell and Edith Hurshman. Muriel was a kind and gentle lady who loved to laugh and found joy in the simplest of pleasures. She was a supportive and compassionate person who quietly gave her time and treasure to anyone she knew who needed help, whether it be human or animal. She always liked to look her best and required no persuasion to go on a shopping trip, especially to her happy place, the purse store. During the last seven years of her life, she lived at Maplestone where she expanded her family to include the wonderful staff who cared so lovingly for her, who made her laugh, teased her and got teased in return. Thank you to everyone on Ringdale, Evans and Hale Court for all your compassion during Muriel’s final days. Special thanks to Rev. Marian Conrad for the pastoral care and support during Muriel’s transition. Muriel’s care and cremation have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. There will be a private graveside service in Oakridge Memorial Gardens at a later date. If you wish, a memorial donation may be made to Hope for Wildlife or St. Mark’s Food Bank. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Halifax Chapel.
