Age 88, Sheet Harbour, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital. Born in Sheet Harbour June 26, 1932 he was a son of the late Carl and Frances (Quillan) Knight. In his earlier years Dennis worked at the Sheet Harbour Pulp & Paper Mill, then with the Department of Highways. Dennis also worked for CP Rail in Toronto where he soon realized he missed home and moved back to Sheet Harbour. He was an avid LA Dodgers and Montreal Canadiens fan. He loved Hank Snow with his favourite song being "I’ve been everywhere man", he had a large collection of cd’s and albums. Dennis loved fly fishing for trout at Fraser Lake "secret cove". He enjoyed visits and chats with his buddies Muzzy, Billy and Buddy. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Dennis is survived by his partner of 47 years, Della Purdy; daughter, Janice (Guy) Leslie, Spry Bay; son, Dennis Purdy (Julie Lalonde), Ottawa; grandsons, Byron, John and Patrick; great-grandchild­ren, Aiden and Brody; many nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by sisters, Ruth Rutledge, Ruby Knight, Geraldine Rice; brothers, Johnny, Basil and Lloyd "Grit" Quillan. Special thanks to the nurses at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Dr. Antony and DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home. An extra special thanks to Kenny and Cindy Grist for taking Dad to appointmen­ts and doing odd jobs around the house, and to Pippy (Carolyn Blaind) for coming and visiting on his birthdays.
