Of Coquitlam, B.C., passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021, in Crossroads Hospice, Port Moody, B.C. at the age of 76. Sheila was a generous, talented soul who appreciated the beauty of the world around her. She brought joy to loved ones with her gifts of art and quilts. Her bespoke Christmas cards were eagerly anticipated and treasured annually. She enjoyed poetry and wordplay and delighted in sharing puns, limericks and more, even if they were "groaners." She loved music - karaoke and singing at family gatherings. She adored her grandchildren, who brought her both amusement and joy. Sheila loved to dabble and explore. While completing a Fine Arts diploma at Langara College, she crafted traditional artworks and witty, wonderful creations. Afterwards, painting continued to be a lifelong passion for Sheila; she was an accomplished artist who continually expanded her repertoire of skills and explored new media. For many years, Sheila was an active member of the Port Coquitlam Art Focus Artist’s Association and Port Moody Art Association. Sheila was born and raised in Antigonish. In her career in post-secondary education, Sheila journeyed across Canada; she took pride in supporting and connecting with both students and faculty at St. FX, Dalhousie, UNBC and SFU. She was well-known and admired by the Vancouver business community during her years working at the Vancouver Board of Trade. She marvelled at new experiences in her travels with family and friends to Ireland, India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. She was predeceased by her parents, Jimmy and Effie, and brother, Jim "Leroy." Sheila is survived by her children, Chris (Yu Ting), Janice (Sunil), and Deanna (Ian), and grandchildren, Rhea, Ronin, Quillan, and Kai. Sheila will be deeply missed by her siblings, Michael "Mickey" (Beryl), Peggy (Max), Joan (Brad), Annette (Tara); sister-inlaw, Carolyn; as well as her nieces and nephews. A celebration of Sheila’s life will be planned and held in Antigonish, when travel is more easily possible.
