Seven players from the Halifax Mooseheads and Charlottetown Islanders have been suspended as a result of a brawl in Tuesday's game.

Mooseheads winger Zachary L'heureux was the hardest hit because he received a combined four games for fighting after the initial altercation and an accumulation of game misconduct penalties from previous incidents.

Halifax's Cam Whynot and Attilio Biasca, as well as Charlottetown's Bailey Peach, Oscar Plandowski and Patrick Guay all got one game for fighting after the original altercation. Mooseheads goalie Alexis Gravel received one game for spearing Zachary Beauregard.

Beauregard reacted to the spear from Gravel by shoving him back and Halifax defenceman Justin Barron came to his goalie's defence. The rest of the fights followed.

The host Islanders dominated from start to finish in an 8-1 game in front of 970 fans at the Eastlink Centre. It was the second Charlottetown win over Halifax in a row and 15th in 18 meetings this season.

The Islanders got goals from eight different scorers and only allowed 13 shots on net.

They have only lost once in their past 19 games and improve to 33-5-0-0 to keep them just ahead of the idle Val-d'or Foreurs (29-3-2-2) for first place overall in the QMJHL.

Finding the net for the Islanders were Lukas Cormier, Thomas Casey, Patrick Guay, Plandowski, Ben Boyd, Noah Laaouan, Brett Budgell and Felix Tremblay. Biasca had the Mooseheads' goal.

Jacob Goobie made 12 saves for Charlottetown and Gravel stopped 34 shots for Halifax (15-18-5-4).

The teams face each other again in Halifax on Saturday.
