It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Joseph Leon Richard of Amherst, and Lower Onslow, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Care Centre, Truro. He served two terms in the Canadian Army. He married Norma (Meekins) and they moved to Ontario to work for several years. In 1997, he and his family moved back to Springhill Junction, built his family home and worked until retirement as a Boilermake­r, Local 73. He was a man of many talents, building mini barns, dozer work, etc. After his wife’s passing in 2011, he sold their family home in Springhill Junction and moved to Amherst. He enjoyed meeting with his friends at the mall for tea and conversati­on. He is survived by son, Joseph Jr; daughter, Nora (Greg); son, Dustin (Michelle) and their families; his grandson, David and his family; he is also survived by his wife, Beryle; her son, Randy (Ann), and their family. He was predecease­d by wife, Norma; son, David; brothers, Reg, Eddie, Bill and Lorraine. Arrangemen­ts are under the care and guidance of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 Mcfarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). A memorial service for Joseph will take place from the funeral home on Monday, April 19th, at 11 a.m. Preregistr­ation is required, please call or email the funeral home to do so. Masks are required, and it is asked that all follow COVID-19 Regulation­s. Donations in memory of Joe may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
