MCCULLY, Shirley

It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Mccully announces her passing on May 10, 2021. Born in New Glasgow on June 3, 1933, Shirley was a daughter of the late Julia (Smith) Macintosh and the late Louis Macintosh. She was predecease­d by her parents; her husband, Dr. James “Alden” Mccully; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Lawrence “Yud” Mackinnon; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Fern Macintosh. As well, sister-in-law and brother-inlaw, Evelyn and Willard Hines. She was the loving mother of Lynn (Bill) O’connor and Lori Mccully (Glenn Tozer). She was the proud grandmothe­r to Ryan O’connor and aunt to several nieces and nephews. Shirley enjoyed a career in banking upon graduation. After moving to Amherst with her husband, she enjoyed doing the bookkeepin­g and some office work at her husband’s practice. As well, she was a long-time volunteer member of the Highland View Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She made many dear friends while living in Amherst. She was a loving mother and had a great sense of humour that she maintained throughout her life. The family would like to thank the staff at The Berkeley Pepperell Street who cared for Shirley. A family burial will take place in Heatherdal­e Memorial Gardens, Alma, Pictou Co. Donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Victorian Order of Nurses.
