It is with deep sadness we an nounce the passing of our mother Frances Ruth Smith, 87 years, of Springhill. Mom passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late S. Lloyd and Jean (Wilson) Mills. Ruth was a teacher for 12 years. She will be remembered for her fun spirit, love for her family, and hooking buddies. She was well-known for curling, knitting and rug hooking (each rug with its own design and story). She loved hosting friends at her summer cottage and out at the sugar woods. Ruth will be dearly missed by her children, Noelene (Greg) Hatfield, Springhill; sons, Kelsey (Holly), St. Margaret's Bay; and Stefan, Springhill; grandchild­ren; great-grandchild­ren; sister, Mary Lou Raymond, Smith's Cove; brother-in-law Charles Haliburton, Digby. She was predecease­d by her husband, Noel F. Smith; son, Michael; sisters, Stephanie Mills and Patricia Haliburton. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction and care of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 Mcfarlane St., Springhill, (902597-2361). Cremation has taken place. A private interment of her and her husband, Noel will be held in Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Should friends desire, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the All Saints Church, or a charity of choice.
