WATTERS KEIZER (Bayer), Margaret Evelyn

Of Porters Lake, daughter of the late James Fulton and Lillian Grace Bayer, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021. Margaret is survived by her son, Warren (Joan), Pugwash; granddaughter, Karen Mary (Brian); great-grandson, Justin Arnold Rix; daughter-in-law, Patsy Keizer; brothers, Fulton (June) and Graham (Carol) Bayer. The family gratefully acknowledges the care Patsy has provided to Margaret, Margaret loved Patsy like a daughter. We also extend thanks to home care, VON, Dartmouth General Hospital and Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital for their care and kindness. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Warren Watters, the love of her life in 1944. He was killed in The Second World War three weeks after she gave birth to their first child. She was also predeceased by her husband, Harvey Joseph Keizer; son, Harvey Raymond Keizer; brother, William (Mary); sisters, Joan (Joe) Jaques, Patricia (Victor) Marsh and Marina (Brian) Grayson. Margaret was a dedicated member of the Legion and was a Silver Cross Widow. She talked in schools for many years regarding the war and the importance of Remembrance Day. She marched in every Remembrance Day Parade until her health would no longer permit her to. She worked in the Poppy Campaign selling poppies every year at the Superstore in Porters Lake. Mom loved to dance and had an active social life. She was an avid curler and long-time member of Dartmouth Curling Club. She was a member of St. Marks choir for many years. She worked at Jacobsons on Portland Street and was a devoted driver for her friends and family. Family and love were paramount to her and you never left without a hug and “I love you”. Her children, granddaughter and great-grandson were the stars in her life and they shone brightly in her eyes. Mom you will live on in our hearts forever.
