It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Steve Franks who passed on July 18, 2021, in the Dartmouth General Hospital. He was predecease­d by his mother Marion Saab and his adoptive parents, Donald and Lillian Saab. He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Donna (Larramore); son, Jonathan; sisters, Nadine (Kevin) Schwab and Darlene Belleau; in-laws, Mona (Stephen) Lake, Marietta (Rob) Wyman, Bob (Carla) Larramore; and many cousins, nieces, nephews; great-nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve loved to fish and for the last 25 years, he made the long trek with his family to Forest City, N.B., with his boat in tow. There was an ongoing competitio­n between him and his son Jonathan for who was going to catch the first fish. He had a huge presence and loved kids. He volunteere­d with Scouts Canada, and coached little league baseball for many years. He was very social and would strike up a conversati­on anywhere, anytime, especially on his trips to Sobeys. In recent years, he formed a special bond with his adopted niece Melisa, sharing fond memories. Letter to Dad from Jonathan: “Hardest day of my life. I love you so much Dad and will miss you more than anything. You are my best friend and I would give anything to go fishing with you one more time. I pray you will find heaven or whatever is out there. I will look after Mom like I promised. You will always be by my side” Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday July 27th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, number will be limited. Donations in memory of Steve may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada or a charity of choice. The family would like to thank his good friends Larry and Eric and many others for their friendship over the years, and the family members who have been so supportive and helpful. Special thanks also to the QEII Transplant Team and Oncology Department for all of the care that was given to Steve.
