MAHEN (Smiley), Ruth Mary

It is with a mixture of heavy hearts and a deep sense of gratitude that we say goodbye to Ruth Mary Mahen (Smiley), who peacefully passed away following a lengthy illness on July 18, 2021, after a life well-lived. She was a selfless wife and mother to her family, a compassionate RN to so many in need, and a genuinely loyal and dependable friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Left to cherish fond memories of Ruth are her husband, Robert Mahen; son, Gregory (Kellsay Compton); daughter, Gillian (James Phillips); siblings, Beverly Smiley, Lower Sackville; Elaine Porter, Halifax; Steven Smiley (Sharon), Bridgewater; Sharon Finlayson (Malcolm), Vancouver, B.C; Heather Smiley-stone (Paul Stone), Halifax; Brent Smiley (Rita), Toronto, Ont.; along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father, Hector M. Smiley Jr., (1987); brother, Gary H. Smiley (2001); mother, Catherine E. Smiley (Patriquin) (2007); and brother, David W. Smiley (2018). Resting in Maclean Funeral Home Swan Chapel, Charlottetown, P.E.I. The funeral service by invitation only will be celebrated in Spring Park United Church at 10 a.m., on Friday, July 30th.
