Jamieson among Thunderbird signings

-

The Halifax Thunderbirds have re-signed a half-dozen of their core players in the past few days, including their captain Cody Jamieson.

Jamieson, who was an unrestricted free agent, led the National Lacrosse team in points with 59 during the 2019-20 season, the franchise’s first based in Halifax after relocating from Rochester, N.Y. The season was cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic and all of the 2020-21 campaign was cancelled.

“For me it’s always been about family,” Jamieson, who’s third all-time in team history in goals (281) and points (763), said in a news release. “My teammates, the coaches and staff are an extension of my family, and we’ve worked so hard to get to where we are.

“I couldn’t imagine leaving after all the years we’ve spent together building something special. We are focused on bringing an NLL title to Halifax together.”

The Thunderbirds also inked goalie Warren Hill to a two-year deal.

Also earning new contracts recently were forwards Eric Fannell and Chris Boushy, transition Brad Gillies and defenceman Luc Magnan.
