GRAHAM, Duncan Martin

-

Age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday August 27, 2021, in The Moncton Hospital. Born in Judique, he was the son of the late Angus and Euphemia (Chisholm) Graham. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Duncan had a full life filled with adventure and family; all guided by his strong faith in the Catholic Church. He was the fifth child of eight and grew up farming the land, fishing in the sea and fun times at weekend dances. He left home as a teenager to work on the trains with his oldest brother and had many stories of his travels through most of Canada. He moved to Moncton with his wife and first born in the late 50’s where he became deeply involved with his church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved in coaching hockey and the never ending taxi for his family. He loved sports and every time you would call or visit he would be happy to share the highlights of the game he just watched. Known to be tight with his hard earned money, it did not stop him from getting a colour tv for the Canada/soviet Union hockey summit back in 1972. For all whom he has left behind, he left a legacy of a good, honest and caring man with a subtle sense for style and he made the best biscuits. He always looked out for anyone in need, he never judged, he listened and always did what he could to help. He was also known to tell a good story and for his great sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Stephen (Gloria), Gregory (Tanneya) and Allister (Leanne); daughter, Anne (Sherif); sonin-law, Malcom Grieve; grandchildren, Kaylie, Scott, Bronwen, Brianna, Lori, Ailish, Rory, Eddy, Jordyn, Keith and Matthew; greatgrandchildren, Flynn and Luna; brother-in-law, Paul Levangie, as well as many nieces, nephews; and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Monica (Macdonald); children, Glenda Grieve and John Martin “Marty”; sisters, Kaye (Robert Oliver), Anne (Angus Gillis) and Mary Jane (Archie Macdonald); brothers, John (Margaret), William “Bill” (Tena), Vincent (Kaddie) and Francis (Louise). Many thanks to Shirley Clement and family for their love and support over the past 15 years, as well as the staff of Peoples Park Tower and those who helped him during his short stay in The Moncton Hospital. We are going to miss his unconditional love, support and belief in all of us. He saw hard times but never let it get in the way of being optimistic for the future. By request, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton, N.B., on Thursday, September 2nd at 11 a.m. Due to the pandemic, face coverings are highly recommended. The funeral mass will be videotaped, and the video will be available on his obituary on our Website at the end of the day. A graveside service will be held in St Andrew’s parish cemetery in Judique on Saturday, September 4th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Words of comfort may be made at: www.frenettefuneralhome.com Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton, N.B., (509-858-1900).
