BROWN, Anna Marie

-

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our mom, age 79, of Ivany Place, Bedford, formerly of Lower Sackville, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on May 23, 1942, mom was the eldest daughter of the late Fred and Greta (Lyon) Wheatley. In her younger years, mom paddled for the Micmac canoe club, later on she was active in ringette and coached girls softball as well as playing Slo Pitch until the age of 65. Mom was a hard working single parent who physically built her own house at the age of 30. At the age of 40 she went back to school at nights and obtained her Accounting Diploma. She was the backbone, confidant and many times the savior of her children. Mom worked at Ocean Contracting for 25 years until she retired at the age of 66 to spend more time at her favourite place, the cottage in Prince Edward Island. Mom is survived by her children, Eric Brown (Joann), their children, Kristen, Aaron, and Adam; Ellen Brown, her children, Jason and Ami; Lisa Edwards (Blaise), their children, Christopher, Craigen, and Aimee; Steve Brown (Amber), their children, Elias, and Declan; Jamie Brown (Becky), their children, Annabelle, Georgie, and Penny. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kody, Jordan, and Jolie. As well, mom leaves behind her only sister, Thelma Cummins (Jim deceased); niece, Krista; and nephew, Robbie. The family would like to thank the staff of Ivany Place, Bluenose Cove, for the compassionate care given to mom over the last two and a half years. Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on October 12th, at 1pm, at Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth Chapel, 771 Main Street. In lie of flowers, donations may be made in mom's memory to the Alzheimer's Society.
