NICKERSON, Norman Wallace

-

Age 82, of Barrington Passage, formerly of Woods Harbour. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Norman Wallace Nickerson, on October 7, 2021. Born in Woods Harbour on March 23, 1939, he was a son of the late Wallace and Glenora (Nickerson) Nickerson. Norman grew up in Woods Harbour and started making his living on the water at a young age. He was a successful fisherman, owning and operating several vessels over the years. He was very driven, busy at all times. After his retirement he enjoyed taking drives and especially stopping at the wharves and looking at the boats. He looked forward to visits from family, and very much cherished time spent with the “little ones”. He was a devoted father and husband, and a cherished Grandpa. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was a great role model for them. Later in life he was blessed to be part of his stepchildren’s lives as well. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Newell) Nickerson; children, Shelley (Dana) Goodwin, Billy (Trena), Stephanie (Mark) Smith, Christa (Paul), Andre (Becky); grandchildren, Robin, Natasha and Matthew, Nathan and Kaitlyn, Ricky and Danielle, Paul, Jessica and Logan, Sydney, Cohen and Quinn; great-grandchildren, Sara, Brayden, Brettly, Brielle, Owen, Liam, Malcolm, William, Charlie, and Leightyn; stepchildren, Diane (Irwin) Quinlan, Lanie (Dean) Ward, Andrew Smith; stepdaughter-in-law, Paula Butler; eight step grandsons, one step granddaughter; and four step great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by first wife, Marilyn (Doucette) Nickerson, mother of his children; brothers, Whitman, Preston, Randall; sisters, Veldon Dixon, Alice Belliveau, and Etta Nickerson; great-granddaughter, Briella; and stepson, Robbie Jones. Arrangements have been entrusted to H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There will be a private family service held. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Woods Harbour. It has been requested there be family flowers only; in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or a local school breakfast program.
