WALTERS, Michael Sidney
Age 77, of Hammonds Plains. With sadness and a great appreciation for his life, the family of Michael Walters announces his passing on October 8, 2021. In his peaceful passing, Michael was surrounded by his family, dear friends and his greatest love of all, Twyla, at home. Michael was born on March 10, 1944, in Nottinghamshire, England. He was the only child of Winifred Mary Walters and Sidney Charles Walters. Michael moved to Canada in 1967 to begin his career in architecture working with the Government of Canada on Expo 67. Later, Michael lived in Winnipeg and Toronto as the lead architect for the Hudson Bay Company. Upon retirement, Michael moved to the east coast enjoying many years on Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Michael had a love for travel, cars, reading and golf. In his world travels, he loved to meet new people and experience the culture, food, and landscape. He had a sense of English humour like no other, it was dry and often described as “wicked”. Remembering him with love is his life partner, Twyla Ritchie Hartt and her children, Thomas Ritchie Hartt, Donald Davis Hartt (Sarah), Margot Jane Hartt and Nancy Elizabeth Hartt; his grandchildren, Grace and Nolan Hartt. In England his dear Aunt Betty Douce with whom he shared a special bond. In Saint John, his brother-in-law, Eric Ritchie and family. The family wishes to give thanks for the care and compassion he received at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, specifically the doctors, nurses, and health care team in the Department of Hematology on 8A. In his memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. A celebration of life will be held within the family at a later date.
