AMIRAULT, Leona Thérèse

-

Age 86. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Leona, at her home, with family at her side on December 30, 2021. She was born in the Acadian village of West Pubnico to Robert (à Leger) and Bernice d’entremont. She was predeceased by her gentle loving husband, Hubert; her brothers, Everett, and Delphis; and granddaughter, Renée. She was a devoted mother to Donna (Bruce) Gaudet, Janet (Keith) Amirault-burke, and Philip (Cecile) Amirault; proud grandmother to Michelle, Chris, Jenn, Alex, Sarah, Daniel; and greatgrandmother to Hayden, Lilly, Jacob, James, Emma, and Axel. She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Rose D’eon, Lea d’entremont. Our mom was proud of having achieved a secretarial diploma after high school, and moved to Halifax to work before meeting her soulmate, Hubert, who ironically was from the same village. After raising her family she returned to work parttime as a data entry clerk at Sears. She had a passion for music, especially singing in choirs - Les Voix d’acadie and the Chebucto Singers. She was a devoted mémère to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all learned of her love of “jamjams”, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Bachelor, and Lawrence Welk. When she started laughing at nothing at all it could turn into a fit of giggles for everyone! She loved socializing at her daily Tim’s outings, and took pleasure in watching neighbourhood activities, especially birds and children, from her front window while wearing her favourite lipstick! The family would like to express sincere appreciation for her extraordinary care team especially in her final few years as she lived with Alzheimer’s. A private family service will be livestreamed on Thursday January 6, 2022 at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or charity of choice. Livestream link and online condolences may be left by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com – Halifax Chapel.
