Age 81. Passed away peacefully at Middle Musquodobo­it Memorial Hospital on April 23, 2022. Born May 23, 1940, in Rose Bay, Lunenburg. He was the second son of the late James Irving and Minerva Catherine (Mossman) Creaser. Walter was survived by his wife, Theresa Marie Larade, Abriel (Creaser) of Cheticamp, for four days, until her unexpected passing on April 27, 2022. Survived also by his brother, Vernon Creaser; sons, Philip Creaser (Halifax); and Richard Creaser (Vermont); granddaugh­ter, Ciara Creaser (Philip); and step-sons, Danny Abriel (Halifax); Bruce Abriel (Dartmouth); Glen Abriel (Kingston). Walters's stepgrandc­hildren, Ethan and Calen Abriel (Bruce), Nicole, Jadon, Isaac Abriel (Glen), and Kevin Abriel (Danny). Walter was predecease­d by his first wife, Marie Marthe Aimee Creaser (Rioux) of Quebec; and brother, Wayne Creaser (Lunenburg). Walter was a very kind and soft-spoken man, who loved gardening and working around the small hobby farm with horses, egg-laying chickens, and ducks. Walter delighted in sharing 19 birthday celebratio­ns with his step-grandson, (Ethan Abriel) and was looking forward to another shared birthday celebratio­n this May 23rd. Walter worked as a Canadian marine traffic officer for 36 years with the Federal Marine Communicat­ions and Traffic Services (MCTS) at Chebucto Head. His work on behalf of the Canadian Coast Guard provided the first response to vessels in distress. Overseeing the safety of Canada’s waterways by listening for distress and safety calls, monitoring marine traffic to prevent accidents, making sure that vessels comply with Canadian laws, and broadcasti­ng maritime safety informatio­n, such as weather and navigation­al warnings. Walter was very generous and served as a faithful volunteer (COP) Citizen on Patrol for the community of Musquodobo­it Valley for many years. He gave generously to numerous registered Canadian charities: Alzheimer's Society, Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Cancer Research Society, Diabetes Canada, Eco-justice, Police Associatio­n of Nova Scotia, World Wildlife Federation, Doctors Without Borders, World Vision Canada, Unicef, United Way, The Salvation Army, The War Amps, and the IWK. Walters's final arrangemen­ts and cremation were cared for by Rowlings Funeral Home Musquodobo­it Harbour. In place of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Research Society, Diabetes Canada, Kidney Research Canada, or Alzheimer's Society of Canada. A shared memorial service for Walter and his wife Theresa Marie Creaser will be held Saturday, May 7th, at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew's United Church, Elderbank.
