Lynx Air adds Halifax-alberta routes
10 destinations for budget carrier
Lynx Air is adding two Halifax routes to its network, creating links from Nova Scotia to Calgary and Edmonton.
These services are in addition to previously announced flights between Halifax and Toronto and Hamilton, Ont., that are to start at the end of June.
As of July 14, Lynx will have five through-flights a week each way from Calgary to Halifax. On July 30, the airline will start two through flights a week each way from Edmonton to Halifax.
At that point, Lynx will be flying 14 flights a week in and out of Halifax, totaling more than 2,600 seats weekly, according to the carrier.
The Edmonton and Calgary routes will operate via Toronto or Hamilton, providing a seamless service with a single boarding pass and the ability to check bags through to the final destination. Fares to and from Halifax start at $59 one way, including taxes, according to a news release.
Lynx has also expanded services to and from St John’s.
The airline says it’s responding to strong demand for flights to Atlantic Canada.
The privately owned airline launched its first flight about a month ago and has been ramping up its network as summer approaches.
Tickets are on sale for 10 destinations: Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto Pearson, Hamilton, Halifax and St. John’s. Tickets are sold through Flylynx.com.
The airline operates a fleet of new Boeing 737 aircraft and plans to grow to 46 planes over the next five to seven years.
“Lynx is proud to be bringing competition and choice to beautiful Atlantic Canada,” said Merren Mcarthur, CEO of Lynx, in the release.
“Halifax is Canada’s secondlargest coastal city and gateway to beautiful Nova Scotia, renowned for its fresh seafood, striking lighthouses and stunning natural landscapes. We are excited to be offering more ultra-affordable travel options for people to visit this wonderful region.”
