Survived by his partner in life and love, Mariann Mackenzie; daughters, Wendy (Larry) Grant-rhindress, Whittenburg; Kim Stewart, Stewiacke; Bonnie Joldersma, Stewiacke; Judy (Alan) Prosser, Bedford, and his grandchildren, Matthew (Emily), Dustin, Emily, Jeffrey (Christy), Allison (Jordan), Robin; great-grandchildren, Shane and Nora, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded by mother, Isabella Stewart (of Sydney) and father, John Stewart (of Stuart Island, B.C.); his brothers, Gordon and Phillip Stewart; sister, Laureli Stewart; wife, Shirley Stewart (Beattie), and former wife, Dorothy Stewart (Snow), the mother of their children. Dave will be remembered for his quick wit, a strong sense of family, and drive for perfection. Rising to the rank of Corporal in the RCD Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces he served from 1957 to 1979. Not one to be idle, Dave ran Scottie's second-hand store in Wolfville after his retirement. A resident of Blomidon for over 30 years, Dave was known for his immaculate property, annual corn boils, and crab apple jelly. He expressed his creative side through beautiful handmade furniture and photography. If he wasn't in his workshop, he could be found on the golf course or travelling in his RV. Of all his accomplishments, his family was Dave's crowning jewel. Dave was a warm presence and known to offer words of advice to keep us all in line. Dave's guidance and presence will be gravely missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to the staff at Kentville Hospice, and the Kentville Palliative Care team. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, East Stewiacke.
