RAYMOND, Jean Carol

-

Age 88 of Digby, passed away on May 12, 2022. Born in Digby, she was a daughter of the late Vaughn and Olive Warner. Jean was a long-time member of the Rebecca Lodge, Digby Golf Club, Digby Curling Club as well as Digby Yacht Club as both a member and treasurer. She enjoyed playing bridge with Demille and other couples, and later in life playing with “the girls.” In the summer, Jean and Demille enjoyed weekends at their cottage with their many friends that would regularly drop in or stay for the weekend. In the winter Friday night at the Raymonds became a regular event with food and drinks for all who stopped by. Meals with the family were important to Jean, and she delighted in sharing her morning coffee and toast with her pets. She loved spending time with her nieces and enjoyed the visits with caretakers before her move to Tideview. Jean will be remembered for her kind and generous nature; she was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels, and she loved to help seniors by taking them to appointments. She will also be remembered for her friendliness, positive attitude, and ability to make others laugh; later in life Alzheimer’s began to loosen her filter and her sarcasm brought out even more laughter from those around her. Jean is survived by sons, Mark (Nancy) of Kentville; Matthew of Digby; brother, Alfred Warner of Digby; grandchildren, Benjamin and Zachary Raymond; nieces, Melissa (Chris) Raymond of Halifax; Janis Raymond of Halifax; Dianne Bently of Halifax; Susan Raymond of Kentville, and Janet Hadley of Halifax; and nephews, Robert (Carol) Warner of Bridgewater; Mike Warner of Dartmouth; Robert Raymond of Halifax and Bruce (Joyce) Raymond of Charlottetown, P.E.I. She was predeceased by husband, Demille E. Raymond and niece, Cathy (Robert) Macnutt. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24th from 6-8 p.m. in Jayne's Funeral Home. Funeral Service Wednesday, May 25th, 11 a.m. in Grace United Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery with Janet Sollows to officiate.
