KENNEDY, Marilyn Helen
Age 80, of Centreville, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Boutilier’s Point, she was a daughter of the late Graham and Dorothy (Awalt) Dauphinee. Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper for Don Fraser before becoming a bookkeeper for the family business, Veldhoven Upholstery. She was heavily involved in the Centreville community, Centreville Good Neighbors Club, Pins and Needles as well as the Centreville District Community Development Association where she held many positions. She was a very proud, loving, kind and determined person. She adored all creations, especially animals. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, crafts and loved crossword puzzles and Sudoku. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 30 years, John Veldhoven; and her cats, Blue and Newya; son, Kenneth (Jennifer), Abercrombie; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Drew) Kyle, Williamsburg, Ontario; grandchildren, Mckaela Kennedy; Kelowna, B.C.; Mackenna and Brogan Kyle, both of Williamsburg, Ont.;; Alden Kennedy, Greenwood; sister, Iris Gillan, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Cathy Dauphinee, Chester; Shirley Dauphinee, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Blaine Kennedy; brothers, Harley Dauphinee, Duncan Dauphinee; and brother-in-law, Jack Gillan. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29th in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. Shirley Cole officiating. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service will be available. Interment will take place in Boutilier’s Point Cemetery at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Centreville Good Neighbors Club or your local SPCA.
