GALLAGHER, Frances Ethel

-

Our mother, Frances Ethel Gallagher, of Greenwood, NS, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 89. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mary (Molten) Morrissey. At the age of 17 Frances started working for Sears in Halifax, Nova Scotia assisting customers in the catalog department. During this time, the love of her life, Ken, had joined the military and was stationed in England. Frances joined Ken in England at the age of 19, and they were married soon after. After enjoying European adventures and making friends that would last a lifetime, they returned home to Nova Scotia. Eventually they moved on to postings in Prince Edward Island (Summerside), Florida (Jacksonville) and finally back to Nova Scotia (Greenwood) where they remained. After her return to Greenwood, she spent a few more years working at Sears until the office closed. Eventually she took a job working at the Pharmacy in the Greenwood Mall where she worked as a pharmacy tech until finally retiring. Frances loved to play cards, enjoyed going to the movies and watching her late-night TV dramas. She would go to the local gym a couple times a week to mostly enjoy the companionship of her many friends. Frances had a passion for all things country and could often be found at her favorite store and second home, Wheaton’s. She also had a sweet tooth and would often enjoy lunch with Ken at the Big Scoop. Frances was a dedicated and loving mother,

and a sincere and valued friend to so many. Frances will be sadly missed by her daughters, Kimberly (Mark Mccarthy) Medicine Hat, AB; Debra Lyn (Jeannette Bechert) Raleigh, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Bill (Georgie) Gallagher, Dartmouth, NS; granddaughter, Jennifer Mccarthy.
