The end of school boards as we know them

The Coast - - COVER STORY -

After what The Coast called a “scathing” report from consultant Avis Glaze, education minister Zach Churchill made the recommendation to dissolve the province’s school boards (minus the Francophone one) in favour of one, big ol’ advisory council for all of Nova Scotia’s 48,000 students. On March 31 we bid farewell to the 104 school board trustees elected by their communities and in an awkward turn of events, Halifax hosted the Canadian School Boards Association’s annual conference four months later.
