Renovation projects vital part of home show
After a couple of years when COVID-19 prevented the event from being held, the Truro Home & Outdoor Show is returning this weekend.
The Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Master Promotions Ltd. to present the event, which will be held at the Rath-Eastlink Community Centre from April 22 to 24.
“We’re so happy to be back,” said Michele Stoddart, marketing and operations manager with Master Promotions Ltd. “People have been spending a lot of time in their homes and they want to get out and see what’s new. People are very interested in home improvement. They couldn’t go away on vacations so a lot of them used the money to make their place a nice place to be home. Renovations are top of mind with spring improvement projects and the home show is a great place to get new ideas and get projects lined up.”
Exhibits include a wide range of categories, from roofing and interior design to powersports and tractors. Organizations such as the Truro Fire Service, Efficiency Nova Scotia and the Municipality of Colchester are also participating.
“We have businesses like Hubcraft Timber Mart which attend every year and some new ones taking part this year,” said Stoddart. “There are a number of roofing companies. Heat pumps are always big items people are checking out these days and they’ll be able to learn more about them. The theme is general home renovation and there’s something for everyone.”
Door prizes include a Kettle Joe grill, presented by Vintage Stove and Fireplace.
Because of COVID-19, this year’s show will not include an area designed specifically to draw children, but there are still things which will interest many young visitors.
“We hope to be back with things for children next year, but kids are more than welcome to come and there will be things they’ll enjoy,” said Stoddart. “Tractors are always popular.”
The show is being held on one level, in the arena of the RECC, making access easy.
A portion of the proceeds from the event go to the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce to help fund community initiatives.
