Holy­rood RCMP makes two im­paired driv­ing ar­rests over week­end

Holy­rood RCMP made a pair of im­paired driv­ing ar­rests in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents over the week­end.

Ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease, the first ar­rest took place Fri­day night in Har­bour Main, where a ve­hi­cle was stopped for speed­ing. Po­lice sus­pected the driver, 18, had been us­ing cannabis. He was charged with im­paired op­er­a­tion of a ve­hi­cle while im­paired by drug and was re­leased from cus­tody. His first court date at St. John’s Provin­cial Court will be in De­cem­ber.

The next night, Holy­rood RCMP fol­lowed up on a tip about a ve­hi­cle trav­el­ing er­rat­i­cally on the Trans-Canada High­way near But­ter Pot Park that ended up in the me­dian. A 26-year-old man was ar­rested, charged with im­paired op­er­a­tion of a ve­hi­cle and also re­leased from cus­tody. His first court date is in Feb­ru­ary.
