NHL Young Stars on ice in Penticton today

In addition to playing six games, the four teams at the Young Stars Classic will be staging practices throughout the annual tournament today through Monday at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton.

The host Vancouver Canucks — along with the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets — are competing in the tourney that showcases the top draft picks and prospects from each team.

The games start Friday, but the Canucks are on the ice for a practice today at 2 p.m. All practices are open to the public free of charge. The Canucks will also practise Friday at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at noon, Sunday at 9:15 a.m. and Monday at 8:30 a.m. The other teams also have practice times. The tourney starts Friday with Calgary facing Winnipeg at 4 p.m. and Edmonton taking on Vancouver at 7:30 p.m.

The family friendly, four-day classic also features a Minor Hockey Day on Sunday at 2 p.m. that includes a Party on the Plaza with games, music and prize giveaways.

Flames: Matthew Tkachuk, Parsons and Dillon Dube.

Oilers: Jesse Puljujärvi, Tyler Benson and Drake Caggiula.
