Donald Trump really has made America great again

Editor: Wow! Lack of rational thought and accurate research will not quell the loud voices of the sheeple who hate U.S. President Donald Trump and all things conservative.

But using lots of derogatory terms does not make for good press.

Perhaps, letter writer Chris Loewen (Hoping Trump stays around the full 4 years, June 28) could use a little updated information.

In the recent five special elections, the Republicans won. Those who were quick to point out that a loss would signify unhappiness with Trump, should be ready to admit the obvious: The people appreciate the president.

Maybe that is because he has brought hundreds of jobs back to Americans by renegotiating with businesses and even gaining a huge ($350 billion) order from Saudi Arabia for American-made helicopters and planes.

Or because he has saved the country $700 million by renegotiating an Obama deal for F-35 jet fighters.

It could be the fact that while Obamacare is quickly becoming unreachable for most Americans, Trump is willing to work with the House of Representatives and the Senate to flesh out health care that will be accessible for all of the people.

Or his care for veterans. He has fired the incompetent heads of Veteran’s Affairs so money will actually go to take care of veterans, and not to a few greedy overseers.

His increased military spending assures that the U.S. will once more be a powerful ally and formidable foe on the world stage.

Reducing tax law to make it a few pages instead of a thousand pages of confusion, and insuring that there are no longer loopholes for the rich to avoid taxes could be a plus.

Slashing the Environmental Protection Agency budget from $8 billion to $4 billion will decrease the slush fund that’s been used to increase the wealth of those who prey on the fears of the people.

Maybe the American people have heard the Texas ranchers who are being over run by gangs and drug runners, and are pleased to know how drastically the movement of these “refugees” has been reduced.

They are pleased he is going to deport (only) those illegal aliens who have been convicted of felonies in the States, and will refuse to allow those who have vocally denounced America as the Great Satan to enter the country they hate.

They are glad he has frozen hiring of federal employees and exposed mainstream media for making up undocumented, untrue stories they have had to retract, and refusing to cover important news if it doesn’t suit their political views.

Or maybe the American people just like to see this amazing diplomat speak the truth, with his intelligent and gentle wife at his side, and his Jewish daughter and son-in-law advising him.

Maybe they like it that he won’t take a salary.

Maybe when they see Trump, they see someone who is willing to fight for the American people, even if half of them are not willing to let him.

By the way, as Canadians, we have enough scandal on our own plates, and would probably do better to focus on that.
