Lady of Lake a rich part of Kelowna’s history

Miss Kelowna to be crowned on July 14 at community theatre

-

Editor: Kelowna takes great pride in its history, landscape, amenities, lifestyle, business and culture. The Miss Kelowna Lady of the Lake program is a part of Kelowna’s history, a vibrant opportunity for young ladies to take a leadership role within our community and abroad.

Miss Kelowna Lady of the Lake was originally part of the Kelowna Regatta and began in the 1930s as a beauty pageant.

It has transformed over the years to become an ambassadorship program.

This year’s young ladies received training in public speaking, personal presentation, decision making, goal setting, financial management, career planning, auto mechanics, self-defence, and health and wellness.

Candidates benefit from learning life-long skills, as well as the opportunity to volunteer extensively should they be selected as one of the youth ambassadors.

These young ladies truly develop an understanding on how a city thrives because of its volunteers.

On Friday, July 14, the new Miss Kelowna and Kelowna princesses will be crowned at the Kelowna Community Theatre, 1375 Water St.

Tickets are $20 and are available at the door. All are welcome. The evening will include entertainment by the candidates as well as several other young talented ladies in our community.

Please come out and support this worthwhile program.
