• Andrew Kim the Musical Scientist will be at the Peachland Library in the Peachland Village Mall at 5500 Clements Cres. in Peachland from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. as part of the Summer Reading Club program. Kim combines technology, music and scientific principles to create musical inventions such as African skateboard, Persian paddle, Moroccan hockey stick, Lego Theremin, singing spoon, and musical metre stick, using household recycling. Entertaini­ng, energetic and engaging Andrew will capture your child's creativity and encourage thinking outside the box. • Kelowna City Concert Band performs a free summer concert weather permitting at 7 p.m. at the Island Stage in Waterfront Park in Kelowna. Bring your own lawn chair.

• Read With Me Storytime for preschool children at the Westbank Library at No. 31, 2484 Main St. from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. . There will be fun songs, fingerplay­s, flannel board stories, instrument­s, and books. Free, dropin program. For more informatio­n, call 250-768-4369.

• Needlecraf­t social for adults from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Peachland Library, Peachland Village Mall, 5500 Clements Cres. Bring your crochet, knitting or any handicraft for time to share ideas, learn, or just socialize.

• Storytime for children three-to five years old at 10 a.m. at the Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park. Bring the little ones for this free drop-in program Thursdays during July and August There will be fun, interactiv­e stories and exploratio­n of nearby flora and fauna through a series of mini nature walks. Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park is located at 2375 Whitworth Rd. in West Kelowna.

• Park Play Days, a free casual drop-in program for children and their parents and caregivers, will be at Moon Beam Park on Sunview Drive from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Each Park Play Day provides a variety of fun activities for children tow to eight years old and adults including an active craft and lots of equipment to develop sport literacy skills. • Kids eight years and older can learn to knit or crochet in the air-conditione­d comfort of the Westbank library at 31 - 2484 Main St. from 10 a.m. to noon. Drop-in. Some supplies provided.

Friday, July 7

• Bring your own lawn chair to the amphitheat­re in Memorial Park located on the lower field adjacent to the Johnson-Bentley pool for a free concert from 6:30 to 9 p.m. as part of the weekly Music in the Park program. Bjorn Kriel will be the emerging artist performing at 6:30 p.m., followed by opening act Step’n Stones performing Jazz and Latin at 7 p.m. Piano man James Elser is the headline act at 8 p.m. Join West Kelowna council members and special guests at the official dedication ceremony for the Annette Beaudreau Amphitheat­re in Memorial Park following the opening act.The amphitheat­re will be named after Annette Beaudreau, West Kelowna’s former recreation manager. Beaudreau died in October 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Among her many contributi­ons to the community was creating the popular Music in the Park concert series, leading the National Communitie­s in Bloom winning entry in 2015 and acting as a passionate advocate for culture in West Kelowna.The dedication in her memory will include an unveiling of memorial signage and a sing-along of one of Annette’s favourite songs led by Elser.

• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interactio­n with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. Free. Monday, July 10

• Participac­tion 150 Play List Camp for children six to 12 years with the theme of the Great Outdoors will be at Mar Jok Elementary School, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Participac­tion 150 Play List is a national program designed to encourage all Canadians to sit less and move more. In celebratio­n of Canada’s 150th birthday, City of West Kelowna staff will be challengin­g the group to complete a number of activities on the list grouped into a variety of themes.
