Wednesday, Aug. 2

• School-aged children can join the WildSafe B.C. Okanagan Junior Rangers Community coordinato­r at the Peachland Library from 10 to 11 a.m. for a fun and interactiv­e program on keeping safe and learning about local wildlife. There will be animal hides and skulls and loads of takeaways like tattoos, bookmarks and colouring pages. Free program as part of the Summer Reading Club. • Children ages six to 12 can drop by the Westbank library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and build with Lego blocks and Keva planks. This is a free, drop in program.

• Connie Ross is the featured artist at the Peachland Little Schoolhous­e’s Art Program. Ross will fill the little school with quilts, wall hangings, placemats, hats and bags. Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Peachland Little Schoolhous­e is located on Brandon Lane off Fourth Street in Peachland.

• The Peachland Art Gallery’s Artists in Studio begins. Each week until Aug. 30 the gallery will feature five new artists displaying and selling their work as well as painting in the gallery.The Peachland Art Gallery at 5684 Beach Ave. is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 3

• Storytime for children three-to five years old at 10 a.m. at the Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park. Bring the little ones for this free drop-in program Thursdays during July and August There will be fun, interactiv­e stories and exploratio­n of nearby flora and fauna through a series of mini nature walks. Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park is located at 2375 Whitworth Rd. in West Kelowna.

• Park Play Days, a free casual drop-in program for children and their parents and caregivers, will be at Last Mountain Park on Coventry Crescent from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Each Park Play Day provides a variety of fun activities for children two to eight years old and adults including an active craft and lots of equipment to develop sport literacy skills. • Needlecraf­t social for adults from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Peachland Library, No. 40, Peachland Village Mall, 5500 Clements Cres. in Peachland. Bring your crochet, knitting or any handicraft for time to share ideas, learn, or just socialize.

Friday, Aug. 4

• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interactio­n with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. Free. • Opera Kelowna and Adam Mechem will perform at the free weekly Music in the Park concert from 6:40 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Annette Beaudreau Amphitheat­re in Memorial Park by the Johnson-Bentley pool. Bring your own lawn chair. Food and beverage vendors on site.

Saturday, Aug. 5

• Learn how a sawmill works as the Westbank Museum and Visitor Centre will be running its miniature saw mill at noon. The museum has the only working miniature sawmill in B.C.

• The Westbank Farmers' Market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Westridge Shopping Centre on the corner of Main Street and Elliott Road. Entertainm­ent is provided each week. New vendors welcome. For more informatio­n go online to westbankfa­rmersmarke­t. com.

• Westbank Lions and Lioness Clubs are holding a Pancake Breakfast and Flea Market from 7 a.m. to noon at the Westbank Lions Community Hall Parking Lot at 2466 Main St. Breakfast costs $6 per meal. To rent space with or without a table, call 250-768-2324.

• The Peachland Art Gallery is hosting an open house, noon to 3 p.m., for the Art in the Park Touring Exhibition with over 40 works by 12 artists in a variety of media. • The Rattlesnak­e Island Swim offers two distances – a 3.1 kilometre point to point swim and a seven-km roundtrip swim that loops around the back of Rattlesnak­e Island. The 7-km swim starts from Swim Bay in Peachland at 7 a.m. Swimmers for the 3.1-km swim will be transporte­d over to Rattlesnak­e Island at 6:45 a.m. for an 8 a.m. start. Money raised from the event supports the Okanagan Swim program that sends every Grade 3 student from Peachland to Lake Country for free swimming lessons. • Opening night of West Kelowna artist Roberta Grewcock’s 17-original abstract painting exhibition at the Bean Scene at 371 Bernard Ave. from 8 to 10 p.m. The exhibition will run until the end of August.

Sunday, Aug. 6

B.C. Day and Canada 150 Pancake Breakfast at the 50-Plus Centre at 5672 Beach Avenue in Peachland from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

• Peachland Farmers and Crafters Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Heritage Park on Beach Avenue in Peachland.

• Kelowna Opera performs at the Peachland Rotary Peace Concert at the Rotary Pavilion in Heritage Park in Peachland. Food kiosk opens at 3 p.m. Music at 4 p.m. Bring your lawn chair. Donations welcome. Money from donations provides funding for Shelter Boxes which are deployed to disaster areas around the world..

• Sunday Tea at the Peachland Little Schoolhous­e from 1 to 4 p.m. Connie Ross, an artist who makes quilts, wall hangings, placemats, hats and bags, will be on hand. Bring a friend, enjoy the art and savour a delicious desert. The Peachland Little Schoolhous­e is located on Brandon Lane off Fourth Street in Peachland.
