-

Kelowna’s New Vintage Theatre is celebrating its fifth anniversary and the fourth season of its Kelowna-based live soap opera, As the Sun Burns, with a big bash on Saturday night.

The event at the Black Box Theatre, in the Kelowna Community Theatre, features cabaret-style performances, night market shopping and food and glow dancing in the dark with DJ Joe Otoo.

“Our first performances were in a packed winery tasting room at The Vibrant Vine winery. Since then, our company has performed in venues throughout the Okanagan and worked with over 150 different artists on 30-plus productions. Some have been modest, some grand, but each and every one has been created with love, integrity and an earnest desire to create an inspiring experience for our patrons ,” said artistic director and founder Bonnie Gratz in a news release.

Artists performing Saturday include past and present New Vintage members.

The 16-plus event is also fundraiser for New Vintage Theatre’s upcoming shows. There will be the opportunity to partake in a night market where guests can try their luck for prizes, shop from Perch Vintage Clothing bus, buy tasty treats and enjoy cold beverages from the bar. Birthday cake will be served.

Doors open at 8:45 p.m. with the show starting at 89:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available from Select Your Tickets or at the door.
