Peach­land to ex­tend waterfront walk­way

A pop­u­lar waterfront prom­e­nade in Peach­land will be ex­tended 700 me­tres in a few years.

Town fi­nan­cial state­ments in­di­cate an ex­ten­sion of the Cen­ten­nial walk­way from its cur­rent end­point of 13th Street to Todd Road is planned for 2021.

Project cost is cur­rently es­ti­mated to be $1.3 mil­lion, funded from two re­serve ac­counts.

The first phase of the walk­way, opened in 2009, in­cludes a wide multi-pur­pose path, benches and look­out points, and a bioswale that fil­ters run-off from Beach Av­enue be­fore drain­ing into Okana­gan Lake.
