Grieving spouse begs, slow down!

-

Dear Editor: Numerous times, I have been passed in a construction zone by people who are in a hurry.

Slowing to 80 km/h, then to 60 km/h, with signs of a flagman ahead doesn’t give you the right to pass everyone. It’s very dangerous for flagmen as well as construction workers.

If these people were caught on radar, perhaps they would slow down after paying a hefty fine.

Workers on Highway 97 south of Prince George have a project which requires a construction zone for people to slow and stop.

I would hate to see someone get killed because of some person who has no respect for the signs.

Everyone wants to go home after a day's work.

No one wants to be a casualty, so let’s show some respect for these people who work.

Going to an accident scene where there is a fatality is not a good thing for anyone to go through.

Almost 11 years ago, some driver in a transport truck was in a hurry. He passed a snow plow and hit my truck head-on, killing my wife.

My family and I have to live with the results of suffering a great loss, all because someone was in a hurry. Slow down, people. Five minutes won’t make your life change.

If you’ve ever lost someone because of an accident, you can understand. Let’s hope other people don't have to find out the hard way. Richard Johnson Prince George
