Cash from a Kelowna bank was stolen twice Saturday, leading to multiple arrests.

Kelowna RCMP responded to reports of an armed robbery at TD Canada Trust at 1950 Harvey Ave., shortly before 4 p.m.

A male suspect entered the bank moments before closing time and gave a note to the teller demanding cash, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash to a vehicle waiting nearby.

He abandoned the money after a dye pack exploded, turning it unusable and worthless, said O’Donaghey.

The vehicle fled the area before police arrived on the scene.

A male and female, who police do not believe were associated with the bank robbery suspect, located the abandoned money, said O’Donaghey.

The man allegedly picked up the stolen cash, placed it inside the couple’s vehicle, and the woman drove away.

Mounties arrested the 46-year-old man, who is facing potential charges.

The woman who drove away from the scene later returned with the stolen cash and was taken into custody. She also faces potential charges.

On Sunday afternoon, another suspect believed to be related to the armed robbery was identified and thought to be inside a home in the 100 block of Davie Road.

The suspect fled from the residence and entered another home in the area.

A police dog tracked down the suspect, who was found hiding under the stairs in the home.

The 44-year-old man was arrested after allegedly committing an offence Sunday afternoon. He faces potential charges. “Police continue their efforts to determine whether or not this man had any involvement in Saturday’s robbery,” said O’Donaghey.
