Lethbridge man facing several charges for crimes in Vernon

A man allegedly responsible for a Tim Hortons robbery on Valentine’s Day in Vernon has been arrested.

Vernon RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the Tim Hortons at 3905 32 St., just before 11 p.m.

When employees asked a man to leave the store at closing time, the man approached the till and allegedly demanded cash while threatening violence, said Const. Kelly Brett.

The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Feb. 22, Mounties received a report from a loss prevention officer who said a man matching the description of the robbery suspect had just entered another store.

Police attended the scene and found the suspect exiting the store’s washroom.

The 32-year-old Lethbridge man was arrested in relation to the robbery.

“Our officers work closely with loss prevention officers within the community, and in this particular case, the sharing of information and a photograph paid off,” said Brett.

An investigation has also connected the man to numerous other crimes in the Vernon area.

He is facing several charges, including theft of motor vehicle, fraud, theft, possession of property obtained by crime and break and enter.

He remains in custody facing the pending charges.
