Boyd’s car show back in City Park

Flooding forced the annual Father’s Day car show out of the downtown area last year

Kelowna’s biggest car show is moving back home.

The Boyd Autobody and Glass Father’s Day Car Show will take place Sunday at City Park.

Last year, because of flooding, the show had to be moved to McCurdy Place, an industrial area off McCurdy Road.

The 20th annual show goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A shuttle service will be available to take people from the Kelowna downtown library (and library parkade) to City Park. Driving Force is supplying the shuttle vehicles.

The show will raise funds for the Child Advocacy Centre.

Its mission, according to the car show organizers, is to create a safe child and youth-friendly environment that supports children and youth in need, acts as their personal and family advocate, changes the long-term outcomes and build a stronger community through support and education.

In addition to rows upon rows of cars, motorcycles and boats, the event will feature entertainment by local bands Rumble 100, Silverbacks, and Armonia, a Kids Zone and Steve Darnell from the show Welder Up.

Darnell is known for his part in revolutionizing the Rat Rod industry.

Day of event registration and park entry for vehicles will be from 8 am to 10:30 am. All vehicles (pre-registered or not) must be inside the park prior to 10:45 a.m. It’s a strict city rule that will be enforced.

More information can found on the car show’s Facebook page.

In its temporary location last year, the show drew 400 exhibitors, down slightly from previous years, with about $15,000 raised for the Kelowna Professional Fire Fighters Children’s Burn Fund.

A different charity is chosen each year to benefit from the show.
