Fundraiser offers fun night out for women

Wild Woman Wise Woman event returns this Friday evening after 4-year break

- By Daily Courier Staff

After a four-year break, the Wild Woman Wise Woman fundraiser is back.

This year’s theme is Rosé, All Day, Summertime Soiree, and the party is at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club.

The soiree name refers to Wild Women Wise Woman founder Rose Sexsmith, owner of Rose’s Waterfront Pub at the Delta Grand hotel, and the fact that pink wine is a lifestyle and social media darling with the global catch phrase and hashtag #roseallday.

Rosé wine from The View Winery in Kelowna will be served and there will also be a signature rosé cocktail.

Tickets to the event, which also includes a tapas buffet, photo booth and dance, cost $100, and all money raised will go to local charity Mamas for Mamas.

There will also be a raffle for six prize packages, including a trip for two anywhere WestJet flies.

Over the previous 10-year history of Wild Woman Wise Woman, funds have gone to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter, Kelowna Boys and Girls Club, Heros Kelowna, NOW Canada and orphanages in India and Haiti.

Sexsmith retired Wild Woman Wise Woman in 2014 to concentrate on bringing the 100 Women Who Care charity to the Okanagan.

With that program now established here and requests to bring back Wild Woman Wise Woman mounting, she decided to revive what she calls “the best girls’ night out of the year.”

A few $100 tickets to the event are still available at MamasForMamas.ca/tickets or at CoCo Boutique in Mission Park Shopping Centre and Faces Body+Soul in Orchard Park Shopping Centre.
