A benefit concert will be part of the 50thanniversary celebration of Camp Winfield in September.

The two-day celebration is scheduled to take place Sept. 15 and 16. The concert will be on Saturday with a Family Festival on Sunday.

Camp Winfield opened in 1968 with the support and fundraising by local Lions clubs. Today, it is operated by the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities under the Easter Seals Camp Winfield banner. Some 200-300 children with disabilities attend the camp each summer.

“Camp Winfield is a magical place that has touched the lives of approximately 10,000 families over 50 years,” said Charlene Krepiakevich, president and CEO of Easter Seals BC/Yukon, in a news release. “The weekend will be an opportunity to share so many wonderful stories from our campers and supporters over the years, demonstrate the impact we have made in our communities, and continue to raise funds for campers each and every year.”

Impavid, Tiger Moon and the Joshua Smith Band will perform on an outdoor stage at Camp Winfield. Food trucks will be on site, along with a beer-and-wine garden. An auction will also be held. Tickets cost $30. The Family Festival will go from noon to 5 p.m. Admission costs $5, and includes face painting for children, musical entertainment, a climbing wall, crafts and family photo mini-sessions. There will also be a barbecue concession on site, waterslide rubber duck race, silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

Tickets for events on both days are available online at 50yearsofcamp.ca.
