Pizza shop popular with peace group

-

A pizza shop owner who disavowed his support for the federal Liberals over the Saudi Arabia arms deal is making new friends with members of the Kelowna Peace Group.

The group met last Saturday at Freshslice Pizza on Bernard Avenue to show its support for CEO Ray Russell.

According to the group, Russell, a self-described “big supporter” of the federal Liberal party, announced he can no longer support any party that backs Canada’s $15-billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia.

Canada is selling military vehicles to the country. Calls to cancel the deal have increased since journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed last month inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
